Bayston Gets Knoxville Do Over

KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 10, 2017) – Spencer Bayston’s Knoxville Nationals hopes looked to be on the dim side after rolling across the scales light following his Wednesday night qualifying effort.

The Lebanon, IN, driver gets a reprieve though, as Knoxville Raceway officials discovered a diagnostic issue with the scales.  As a result, Bayston along with Josh Walter (who also was light after qualifying) has been offered the opportunity to compete in Thursday’s qualifying portion of the 57th Annual Knoxville Nationals.

According to a statement released from Knoxville Raceway:

“Following last night’s Brandt Professional Agriculture qualifying night, we discovered that we had a diagnostic issue with our scales. Both drivers who were disqualified for not making weight have been contacted and offered the chance to race tonight.

Our officials worked until 2am this morning to diagnose and fix the problem. The issue was discovered this morning, repaired and the scales have been recertified.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and to the two teams for their understanding as we fixed this problem as quickly as we could.”

The addition of Bayston pushes the number to 53 entries listed for Thursday’s action including reigning Knoxville Nationals champion Jason Johnson.
