Blaney Takes Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup

SARVER, Pa. (July 21, 2015) – It was an All Star kind of night in World of Outlaws competition as Dale Blaney came away with top honors in Lernerville Speedway’s Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup event.

While Blaney topped the first of twin 30-lap features, fellow All Star Circuit of Champions contender Cody Darrah took the top step of the podium in the second 30-lapper. Blaney picked up the Silver Cup and $5,000 bonus with the best combined finish after racing from 19th to eighth in the nightcap.

“We didn’t have a very good Kings Royal, so this sure helps to make up for it,” Blaney said afterward.

In the night’s first feature, Blaney rallied from the tenth starting position to chase down early leader Donny Schatz at the midway point and raced on to his second World of Outlaws victory of the year ahead of Schatz, Daryn Pittman Lucas Wolfe and Danny Dietrich.

While Blaney worked forward from 19th in the second feature, Darrah rallied from eighth to top the final of the twin features for the second year in a row after taking the lead away from Joey Saldana 13 rounds into the 30-lapper. Darrah crossed the stripe ahead of Greg Hodnett, Darrah, David Gravel and Brad Sweet.
