Carney Takes on Cali
Lonnie Wheatley, EL PASO, Texas (July 3, 2018) – The West Texas hotshoe is heading further west for the next pair of weekends.
After a strong ASCS Speedweek showing in June, El Paso, TX, native John Carney II will join forces with the Clayton Snow No. 7 Sprint Car team for a trio of events in California this weekend. From there, the team will journey northward to take in all six rounds of the Western Sprint Tour Speedweek throughout California and Oregon.
“It will be some new tracks for me, it’s going to fun racing against some different people,” Carney says of the upcoming slate of events. “And hopefully we can add some wins along the way.”
This week’s action kicks off at California’s Marysville Raceway with the Freedom Tuesday Night 360-ci Sprint Car event. From there, Carney and the Snow No. 7 team will celebrate July 4th with a night of action at Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway. The team will finish out the week in Sprint Car Challenge Tour action at the Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night.
Carney takes to the left coast with four wins on the season to his credit already with his most recent score a $2,500 triumph in ASCS Southwest action at Las Cruces’ Southern New Mexico Speedway on May 26.
Carney followed that up with an ASCS Speedweek that included three top-five efforts and a Hard Charger night as well along the way that resulted in a seventh place finish in Speedweek points.
