Hafertepe, Jr., atop Rod End Supply Winged 360 Power Rankings Again

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (December 20, 2017) – Sam Hafertepe, Jr., made it two in a row by racing to the top of the 2017 Rod End Supply Winged 360 Sprint Car Power Rankings on the strength of 19 overall feature wins.
After edging Aaron Reutzel for the top spot by just three points in 2016, the Sunnyvale, TX, driver left little doubt this around by amassing a 248-point advantage over Reutzel, who once again settled for runner-up honors.
Hafertepe, Jr., began his winning spree with a sweep of the Devil’s Bowl Spring Nationals in March and proceeded to put up at least one win each month through October, when he landed his 19th win in I-30 Speedway’s Short Track Nationals preliminary action. Fifteen of his wins came in Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition, where he raced to a second consecutive series title.
Aaron Reutzel gave the Lone Star state a one-two sweep for the second year in a row as he took runner-up honors for the third time in the last four years to go along with a third-place showing in 2015. Reutzel posted a half-dozen wins in 360-ci action and the ASCS Speedweek title along the way.
Washington native Seth Bergman rounded out the podium in third with Oklahoma’s Wayne Johnson and Marion, AR, racer Derek Hagar filling out the top five.
Oklahoma’s Matt Covington posted his top Rod End Supply Power Ranking thus far in sixth with Johnny Herrera among the top-ten for the fifth year in a row in seventh. The Rod End Supply Power Ranking runner-up in 2015, California’s Justin Sanders returned to the top ten in eighth with Mississippi’s Morgan Turpen and Canada’s Dylan Westbrook both breaking into the top ten for the first time in ninth and tenth, respectively.
