Sprintweek Update – Meseraull Out of the Amati Racing 66
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 11, 2016) – It happens every year during USAC’s Indiana Sprintweek. Inevitably, at least one team parts ways in the middle of the festivities.
This year’s first casualty is Thomas Meseraull and the Amati Racing No. 66 team.
Following Sunday night’s third round of Sprintweek competition at Lawrenceburg Speedway, the team has parted ways according to social media outlets.
Amati Racing posted on Facebook that “The Amati Team and Thomas Meseraull have parted ways. We would like to thank Thomas for his contribution to our team and wish him luck. This team is and will always be a fan of TMez. We are currently examining our options for the rest of Sprint Week. When a driver has been secured we will make an announcement.”
Meseraull hinted at that with a Tweet earlier in the day, saying that, “Looks like I’ll be spectating the rest of the week.”
The Meseraull-Amati Racing combo had been a force to be reckoned with, entering Sprintweek ranked second In USAC National points with two series wins among his four triumphs this season that included an MSCS score at Putnamville just nine days ago.
And the combo clicked right away after joining forces last year with a Four Crown score at Eldora among several victories last season.
It was a rough start to Sprintweek for the team with a 22nd place finish at Gas City and an 11th place run at Kokomo followed up by a rough Sunday night that included hauler problems getting to the track and then having to use a provisional to get in the main event, where Meseraull ended up 18th.
Sprintweek is a grind and any weaknesses among any team will be magnified. The Meseraull-Amati pairing was the first to crack. And four Sprintweek nights remain.
