The Wheatley Chronicles – Volume III, No. 22

What do these six drivers have in common, you ask? Each of them is atop their respective Open Wheel Power Rankings through the first three months of the 2015 season.

McMahan holds the STIDA Winged 410 lead with Reutzel and Bernal also still atop their respective Rod End Supply Winged 360 and Beaver Stripes Non-Wing 360 Power Rankings. Bacon has taken over the Infinity Shocks Non-Wing 410 Power Rankings lead while Thorson and Wilson debut atop the initial release of Midget and 305 Power Rankings.

STIDA Winged 410 Sprint Car Power Rankings – Top 25 (Through March 29):

While Donny Schatz and Daryn Pittman split WoO wins over the weekend and Danny Dietrich and Brian Montieth took Central PA laurels, Paul McMahan’s lead in STIDA Winged 410 Power Rankings was trimmed by just three points to 23.

Following his 11th overall top five finish of the year with Sunday’s runner-up showing at Antioch, McMahan holds a 23 point edge over Kerry Madsen, who posted a pair of third-place finishes over the weekend to move past Joey Saldana for second.

Infinity Shocks Non-Wing 410 Sprint Car Power Rankings – Top 20 (Through March 29):

Brady Bacon has moved atop the Infinity Shocks Non-Wing 410 Power Rankings as three events have been completed since Kevin Thomas, Jr., was atop the initial installment three weeks ago.

With a win and runner-up finish at USA Raceway’s Copper on Dirt, Bacon vaults to the top of a tightly-bunched race with a five-point advantage over Dave Darland. KT is another two points back in third with Sunday’s No Way Out 40 winner Robert Ballou just ten points out of the lead in fourth.

Rod End Supply Winged 360 Sprint Car Power Rankings – Top 25 (Through March 29):

With a pair of podium finishes in the ASCS Southwest portion of USA Raceway’s Copper on Dirt, Aaron Reutzel has opened up his lead in the Rod End Supply Winged 360 Sprint Car Power Rankings to 19 points.

Reutzel holds a 19-point edge over Danny Martin, Jr., who picked off a pair of wins this past weekend in Georgia and Florida after taking a Top Gun win at East Bay the previous weekend.

Mark Smith still holds third with Seth Bergman and Johnny Herrera among the current top five.

Beaver Stripes Non-Wing 360 Sprint Car Power Rankings – Top 20 (Through March 29):

Ryan Bernal strengthened his grip on the number one Beaver Stripes Non-Wing 360 Sprint Car Power Ranking by racking up his fourth win of the season in this past weekend’s USAC West Coast action at Kings Speedway.

With the triumph, Bernal is 33 points ahead of fellow West Coast shoe Danny Faria, Jr., with Stevie Sussex just ahead of CSP Hank Arnold Memorial winner R.J. Johnson for third.

Midgets (Top 25 – Through March 29):

While Rico Abreu won the Chili Bowl and Christopher Bell swept through the recent POWRi opener Port City, it’s Keith Kunz Motorsports teammate Tanner Thorson that is atop the initial rendition of the 2015 Midget Power Rankings.

The Nevada native rallied from deep in the field on successive Chili Bowl nights to post top-five finishes before doing the same on the opening night at Port City before finishing seventh in the Turnpike Challenge finale.

As a result, Thorson holds a five-point advantage over Port City sweeper Bell with Abreu another three points back in third. Reigning POWRi champ Zach Daum and Blake Hahn round out the early top five.
